Laura Papke (Munich, 1992; she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher living and working in Eindhoven (NL). Through her practice, she explores the intersections of art, science and technology with a particular interest in mental and physical well-being. She crafts contemporary rituals using biofeedback, miscellaneous technology and sound. Her methodology is deeply rooted in performative design strategies and interdisciplinary collaborations. It is her intention to offer new perspectives on healing processes in a technology-driven world. She seeks to reimagine the purpose of technology, shifting our focus towards nurturing our collective spiritual well-being.
She has exhibited at notable festivals and exhibitions in Germany, Switzerland and throughout the Netherlands. In 2023 she has given workshops at Gerrit Rietveld Academy Amsterdam (NL) and at the Gerrit Rietveld College Utrecht (NL) in the context of MU Hybrid Art House’s education program “Designing the Self: Reel Feelings in Hybrid Times“. In collaboration with Jan Christian Schulz, she has written the essay “Sensorial Weather-Journeying: On Feelings and Senses of Techno-Organic-Bodies” in retrospective of Fiber’s Reassamble Lab “Weatherscapes”. Currently she is continuing her research about interoception, the perception of inner-body activities, and synchronisation in collaboration with artist Nino Basilashvili.
Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design from AMD Academy of Fashion & Design Munich (DE) and was awarded third place for the AMD Fashion Award 2017 with her final collection Naphtha. She also holds a Master of Arts in Social Design from Design Academy Eindhoven (NL) and was nominated for the Planetree Design Award 2022, granted by GGzE De Grote Beek and Design Academy Eindhoven, with her graduation project Sonic Driving.
